TRANSFER OF FUNDS

UCI Foundation to UC Regents

A Monetary Transfer Form (MTF) is used to request the transfer of funds from a UCI Foundation to the UC Regents various donors account. The following steps are necessary to complete the transfer:

  • Department prepares MTF to request the transfer
  • Request is signed by one authorized fund custodian, and forwarded to the UCI Foundation
  • Request is reviewed by UCIF accounting for compliance to donor’s intent
  • UCIF accounting prepares a check payable to UC Regents
  • Funds are credited to a University various donors account
  • Money is then available for departmental use
All expenditures made from restricted funds must conform with the donor’s designated purpose. UCI Foundation does not disburse funds directly; funds are transferred to the University for expenditure purposes. Fund custodians are responsible for ensuring gifts transferred to the University are expended according to the donor’s intent.

Undergraduate scholarships are disbursed through the Office of Financial Aid. Graduate fellowships and awards are disbursed through the Division of Graduate Studies and Research.

Money cannot be transferred from the UC Regents to the UCI Foundation

UCIF Interfund Transfer

To transfer money from one Foundation Fund to another a Request for Interfund Transfer is completed and signed by both the fund custodians for the debited and credited fund , and forwarded to the UCI Foundation. UCIF accounting will review the request for compliance, authorize the request, and complete the transfer.
