Community & Government Relations
The Office of Community and Government Relations serves as the central resource for campus and unit-based relationships with Orange County's elected officials and community and opinion leaders. The community and government relations staff is dedicated to creating awareness, building relationships and generating support for the University of California, Irvine and UC Irvine Medical Center.
Community and government relations works to create awareness by positioning UC Irvine as a resource for legislators, community organizations and business leaders. Another focus is to heighten visibility of the UC Irvine Medical Center - Orange County’s landmark center for medicine recognized for its cutting-edge, comprehensive healthcare by a world-class clinical staff.
Building relationships is key. CGR facilitates opportunities for UC Irvine to cultivate strategic relationships with legislators, alumni, community and business leaders.
Additionally, community and government relations generates support by creating opportunities for UC Irvine friends to advocate on behalf of the University of California. Anteater Advocates build relationships with our policy makers in Sacramento and Washington, DC to ensure federal and state funding for higher education and to sustain UC’s mission of teaching, research and public service.
